On May 7th, we hosted our 2017 Ceremony of Remembrance at Goucher College in Towson, MD.
We understand that in our roles, we are meeting donor families at one of the worst moments of their lives. And despite their grief, donors and families agree to give the gift of life. It is a noble and hard decision to make. In order to express our gratitude, we created the Ceremony of Remembrance annual event to recognize and celebrate the legacy of organ, eye, and tissue donors.
This is one of our largest events where the Maryland donor community come together to support each other. This year’s program was hosted by our very own The LLF’s Organizational Trainer Karen Kennedy. It included musical arrangements by Kellen Johnson, Matthew Hillman, and Alana Simone Purvis, a candle light vigil for the donors, and speeches by organ and tissue transplant recipients Donna Pierce and Aaron Rouselle.
The Donor Memorial Quilts were displayed at the ceremony and donor families were invited to pin a quilt square honoring their loved one to a new quilt.
Thank you to all who attended our 2017 Ceremony of Remembrance. It is truly our honor and privelege to serve you.
If you are a donor family who would like to attend future ceremonies, please email us at familyservices@thellf.org to be added to our Ceremony of Remembrance “Always Invite” list.
